Not working! I can`t open 80% of MSG files with this app. But its free! so i give you 1/5 stars for 20% successfully opened MSG

We have someone in the office that is using Outlook 2007 and saves .msg files as a format to communicate with other people in the office. This program has opened every .msg file Ive thrown at it. Maybe it doesnt work with 2010 or 2003 .msg files? I dont know, but for me its work well.

I wish this one did work. It would be a perfect app for my needs. However it fails to open .msg files, and since thats the point… cant give it good marks.

I wanted an app that would open .msg files and export them to .eml files. This app does exactly that - occasionally. I didnt want something that converts .pst files. Instead I wanted something to open individual e-mail messages created in Outlook 2003 on the PC and convert them to a format I could use in Outlook 2011 for the Mac. This seems to do the job but only intermittently. I cant determine a reason why it will succeed in converting some .msg files and not others. It always seems to be able to convert messages to .rtf files. It truncates the names of attached files. I tried to save only Excel files that were attached to .msg files. It seems to recognize the existence of only .xls files, not .xlsx files. So while it will successfully save an attached Excel file to my desktop I will sometimes have to relabel the suffix from .xls to .xlsx. Then Excel opens the file and repairs it, after which the file appears to be intact. I havent tried handling any other attachment file types. This app always opens the .msg file and allows me to view it. It always allows me to save the message as a .rtf, but it is very unreliable at saving files in .eml format. I can use this app as a stopgap measure until it is updated to reliably convert .msg to .eml.

This app is outstanding. It has opened all of the msg files Ive tried, and it has freed me from the tyranny of making pdfs of important messages. Mailraider does just what it needs to do and nothing else. Kudos to the developer for making this available at no charge and maintaining it.

I just go a Mac Pro and wanted to open files from my PC. Once I learned how to share a folder in XP, I was pretty happy to see I had access to both machines from my Mac. Then I was curious if I could open my .msg files. I recently switched to Lotus Notes so I was already interested in programs that could open old legacy Outlook files that I had archived with projects I worked on. In the Mac, when I tried to open the file, I chose to open it via App Store, it showed me MailRaider, I tried it, and it worked great. I looked for another e-mail with an attachment, and that worked as expected too. Seems perfect to me, and its free.

I downloaded this app today and have opened 30+ .msg emails today. In every case, there was not a single email that could not be opened and read on my mac. Im not sure why there have been negative comments about this app. My experience has been quite the opposite. I am extremely satisfied with MailRaider. This app has given me the freedom to read emails from my friends and business associates that I could not have read otherwise. Thank you so much for developing MailRaider!

This app does what it says, and for free. Im a lawyer, and I use it all of the time to review large productions of outlook emails on my Apple. Its a lifesaver.

This app saved my bacon allowing me to view all those internally saved e-mail files after I switched to the iMac. The only downside is that it is not script driven to allow auto conversion and saving of whole files of messages, Thanks for the excellent app.

For those of us migrating between systems (MAC/PC) this is a lifesaver. My hat is off to the developers for their insight and simple interface. When going from PC to MAC open Finder, and select OPEN WITH (Other) and then select the MailRaider app from your Applications list. Well done!

Does just what it promises. And thanks to the developer for his time, which has already saved a whole lot mine.

Clearly this app is designed to destroy the American economy. Seriously, I hope its only free while the author works out bugs and adds functions. It needs to convert to a "pro" model so that he at least gets to buy a new laptop or something. I use .MSG as my de facto word processor on my work machine. I move them around and save them to servers - like files. Much less painful than using Word for small projects. Only downside was there was no way to read em on my Mac. Until now. I dont much care if it renders with fidelity (which it seems to actually), Im just delighted it lets me view the file contents. Great contribution.

Got some old msg files, at first Im frustrated that what this is!? this program help me read them, works fine.

I was working with a file I had to submit for work but part of what they sent me I could not open and I was up against a deadline. I knew noting of this app before but downloaded it and bingo, it worked! Sure made me a happy camper and work will be pleased too! It is so frustratiing when you received messages that you cannot open. Hopefully for me this will be only a memory because of this app.

As an IT professional I work with all sorts of email. I recently switched to a mac and was suprised that .msg file could not be opened with apps I had already installed. This app is simple, easy to use and gets the job done! Thank you!

I had a specific need, and this app met my need with ease. I was able to get questions answered by the developer himself too - very quickly. This is what all apps should be like.

I needed to open a few .msg files. Got this app and it worked great. The price is right too! The other one I found was $8 and I didnt buy it because I thought it was ridiculously expensive for an app that does something so simple as parse a file and display its data. Thank you, Mr. Harris! I needed a simple reader to open .msg files. Oddly I have Office for Mac and it won’t read them. This app opens them and you have options to print, export, etc. It even has an “attachment drawer” that allows you to open attachments to the .msg file (provided you have the proper reader for the attachment).
